Remington Model 1875 frontier era single action revolver in .44-40 caliber with 7 ½” barrel retaining most of its original nickel plated finish with wood grips serial number 40. Shows standard address and no lanyard ring in the butt. The pistol retains 95% plus unpolished original nickel finish with just some slight drifting and minor losses. The areas where the nickel is lost are just starting to age naturally with some minor beginning erosion. The grips fit beautifully and show a nice light color with 30% to 50% of evenly worn varnish missing mostly on the left grip from being carried in a right-handed holster. The edges and markings are super crisp and sharp. There is a slight index line between the cylinder stops. The ejector rod and pin are the originals. The front sight is its full original height. The action is tight and the bore is very good plus and looks like it would clean to near excellent. The action locks tight and cycles well. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $4,000-$8,000.
