Remington Model 1875 Single Action Revolver
Approximately 25,000 Model 1875's were manufactured between 1875 and 1889. The Model 1875 was Remington's attempt to compete with the Colt Single Action Army revolver, but Remington lacked the advantage of Colt's early start in government sales. Marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A" on top of the barrel reading muzzle to breech. The serial number is marked on the left side of the grip frame under the grip. The upper left side of the frame ahead of the cylinder is marked "44", the marking for 44-40 caliber. Modified blade front sight and notch rear sight. Fitted with smooth two piece walnut grips (numbered to the gun).
