Produced between 1875 and 1889, this Model 1875 has been outfitted with a wire shoulder stock, most likely by a gunsmith of that era. Blade and notch sights, with "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A." (breech to muzzle) and the serial number on the left side of the grip frame. The grips are professionally checkered, and the stock measures 13 3/4" long with a curved butt, secured with screws on the back strap and into the hole left by the deleted lanyard swivel.
BBL: 7 1/2 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 44 Remington CF
Finish: nickel
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 138
Condition: Fine, as period custom modified, showing 70% plus of the cleaned original nickel finish, with some flaking on the left side of the ejector rod housing, frame and cylinder, flash pitting on the frame ahead of the cylinder and some minor pitting on the rear edge of the cylinder and on the left recoil shield. The grip straps have taken on a "frosted" appearance. Grips are very good as period custom, with a few minor gouges, several nicks and dents with crisp checkering. The stock is excellent retaining almost all of the nickel finish. Mechanically excellent.
