Remington Model 1875 Single Action Army Revolver

Manufactured from 1875 to 1889. Pinched front sight and frame notch rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A." The serial number is marked on the left side of the frame under the grip panel. The butt has a hole for a now absent lanyard ring. Fitted with smooth grips featuring the caliber marking "44 W" on the left grip panel. The bottom of the left panel is stamped with the letter "H" and the bottom of the right panel is stamped with the letter "R". The Remington Model 1875 was intended to compete with the Colt Single Action Army revolver and it proved to be a well-designed and popular handgun. Remington manufactured an estimated 25,000-30,000 Model 1875 revolvers before production ceased in 1889.
