Approximately 25,000 Model 1875's were manufactured between 1875 and 1889. The Model 1875 was Remington's attempt to compete with the Colt Single Action Army revolver, but Remington lacked the advantage of Colt's early start in government sales. Marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A" on top of the barrel reading breech to muzzle. The serial number is marked on the left side of the grip frame under the grip. Pinched blade front sight screwed into barrel and notch rear sight. Fitted with smooth two piece ivory grips (numbered to the gun) with a lanyard ring mounted on the butt.
