Antique Remington Model 1875 Frontier Army Revolver, #776, .44 Rem. CF cal., 7.5'' barrel marked with maker's name and address in one line; fluted 6-shot cylinder, solid frame has central hammer, right-side hinged loading gate, separate trigger guard, integral gripstraps with lanyard ring at butt, two-piece oil-finished walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1875-89, in full-blued finish but for case hardened hammer and loading gate. Condition is very good, the metal being lightly frost gunmetal gray with generous traces of original blue on barrel web, ejector rod, underside of trigger guard and butt. Grips are smooth and fit well, having a sharp ''F.R.'' inspector's initials within an oval on left side, possibly indicating a rare Egyptian contract (c. 1875) revolver (tho' most remained in the U.S.). Action is smooth and strong; bore is brilliant with sharp rifling and slight frosting toward muzzle. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)(John Ackerman collection)
