Remington Model 1871 Army single shot rolling block action pistol, .50 cal., 8” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, martially-marked, wood grips and fore stock, #NVSN. This gun is in overall fine to excellent condition showing the majority of its original blue finish on the barrel and the majority of its beautiful case colors on the frame; fine bore, crisp action, sharp markings, fine wood stocks with a sharp inspector’s cartouche on the left side of the pistol grip. Approx. 5,000 were sold to the U.S. government however, over the years, many were subsequently altered or converted by civilian gunsmiths for target purposes making original fine conditioned examples hard-to-find for today’s serious collector. Est.: $3,000-$4,000.
