Remington Model 1858 New Model .44 cal. percussion revolver, blued finish, varnished wood grips, #54414. The revolver shows approx. 25%-40% original blue finish which has flaked and there is some light to slightly heavy scattered pittingand erosion; the barrel address is legible; the hammer shows considerable case hardening; action good; bore near excellent. The varnished wood grips are of the civilian type and of the period; fit well and show an “S” stamp on bottom rightgrip; the revolver shows a series of military inspections however it still has a trace of silver on the guard; possibly an overrun sold on the civilian market and the number 172 is stamped on the frame in front of the trigger guard whereRemington’s are not normally stamped. A good condition and interesting Model 1858. Est.: $900-$1,800.
