S/N U58312, manufactured 1927. This Remington shotgun has a remarkable law enforcement history. The 26 inch barrel was shortened to approximately 17.5" to a take-down riot gun configuration in order to effectively be utilized in closing police work. Its first known owner was Mr. W.T. Dawson. Mr. Dawson had a distinguished law enforcement career. He carried this Remington Model 10A as a city policeman in Del Rio, Texas and later as a Deputy Sheriff of Val Verde County. He lastly used this shotgun during his tenure as a Special Texas Ranger; guarding railway interests of the Southern Pacific Railroad. He passed this Remington Model 10A to his son Tol Dawson. Tol was a regular Texas Ranger who distinguished himself as a member of Company D under the command of Capt. Allee. He is known for assisting Capt. Allee and Ranger Joaquin Jackson on 12 April 1964 in preventing 10 prisoners from breaking jail at the Dimmit County Jail in Carrizo Springs. His partner and former Ranger Joaquin purchased this Shotgun on 07-26-2010 from Tol's son making him the third Ranger to own this weapon. Joaquin sold it to his friend Donald Piekert on 09-09-2010. Don remained in possession of the shotgun until 11 Oct 2014 when he gave it to the well know Texas Ranger Ray Martinez.
