Remington-Keene Frontier Model bolt-action magazine rifle, .45-70 cal., 24” barrel, wood half stock, sling swivels, #USID 287. This U.S. Dept. of the Interior gun made for arming the Indian Police, is in overall good condition showing a silvery brown patina on metal surfaces, fair to good bore, good action and markings including military inspector’s initials, wood stock is well-used with a large crack at the wrist, scattered mars, dings and scratches from carry and storage, a large sliver loss along the left upper edge of the stock where the barrel and the receiver meet and several other old chip losses from hard frontier handling and use; these examples are scarce and hard-to-find in any condition.
