Remington Hepburn No. 3 Sporting Single Shot Rifle
Manufactured from 1883 to 1907. The medium weight 28" full octagon barrel is fitted with a blade front sight and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight. The top barrel flat is marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y." at the breech, the serial number is marked on the bottom barrel flat under the forearm and "38" ahead of the forearm. The barrel gauges at 45 caliber, and writer believes this to have been rechambered. Blue barrel and casehardened frame and mounted with a smooth forearm with silver forend and checkered round knob pistol grip stock with nickel plated Swiss style buttplate.

Fine as period refurbished/refinished with 98% of the blue finish remains on the barrel showing some minor thinning and some edge wear. The receiver retains 90% of the slightly faded period refurbished vivid case colors with the trigger guard having aged to a smooth silver gray. The wood is very good retaining 98% finish on the stock and about 50% on the forearm. There are a few scattered minor dings and dents. Virtually all of the slightly dull nickel finish remains on the buttplate. The checkering is sharp. Clear markings. The action is fine.
