Remington .41 cal. O/U derringer, 2-line address, mid-antique production range, serial #403, original punch dot engraved in floral intaglio style, period inscribed in block letters "Willie Bruns"; nickel plated, pearlgrips, refer "Remington Double Derringer" by Drummond, Johnson, etc., page 75, for almost its exact mate, serial #70. This derringer, formerly in the Gene Herrick collection, who was Southern California'spremier Remington collector from the 1950s to 1990s. Nearly 20 years ago, when we sold Mr. Herrick's derringers, his information noted that Willie Bruns was a lawman near Round Rock, Texas, but we have nodocumentation to that effect. The derringer shows 40-60% original nickel evenly drifting and toning, some light erosion and pinprick pitting beginning on the exposed metal areas. The grips are very good+, show some edgewear; the trigger and hammer show some original color. The hinge is fully intact with no cracks, the markings are good, bores are good. Est.: $1,250-$2,500
