Relum Leather & Wicker Should Strap Creel 1960-70s
Featured in this lot is this leather and wicker creel bag made by Relum in the 1960-70s. During the mid-20th century, Relum was a British company known for providing outdoor equipment such as fishing gear and accessories. Their items included leather and wicker shoulder strap carry bags or creels. These bags blended leather with woven wicker, giving anglers a practical and fashionable way to transport their catch and equipment. Relum's fishing creels were very popular among anglers in the United Kingdom in the 1950s and 1960s. During this time, the company's commitment to exceptional craftsmanship made its items in high demand to anglers. This creel shows a front leather flap that covers the wicker creel section of the bag. Behind the wicker basket section is a canvas flap with a pouch for holding various items. It features a double shoulder strap constructed from leather and a leather and metal buckle to secure all of the flaps of the bag and cover the wicker basket. On the front leather flap it is stamped reading, "Relum". The bag shows good condition overall with some wear present from its age and use over the years, but no signs of damage noted. It measures 15" L x 14 1/4" W x 6 1/2" D and weighs 2 pounds.
