Reliure, France Plats d'une reliure parisienne à plaques. Paris, début 16e s. Reliure monogrammée et signée Pierre Gipot : veau estampé à froid sur ais de bois, grandes plaques serties de filets : 260 x 170 mm (plats frottés, bords en partie dénudés, traces de fermoirs et de renforcements aux mors, petits manques, qqs incisions sur le plat sup.). La plaque du premier plat (162 x 102 mm) est divisée en 4 compartiments soit : saint Jean l'Evangéliste, sainte Barbe, sainte Catherine et saint Nicolas, chacun sous une archivolte avec fond étoilé; avec dans le compartiment inf. dr. l'intitale "P" et dans celui de g. "G" pour Pierre Gipot. Au second plat, une plaque (166 x 122 mm) à bordure de pampres, fleurs, oiseaux, dragons et banderoles contournant un champ rectangulaire composé de 5 roulettes verticales (fleurs et pampres). Les banderoles contiennent les devises "esperence" "en" "dieu tout" "bon" "advis " ainsi que le nom du relieur "Pierre Gipot " mais cette banderole est assez effacée (i.e. Gigot ou Guiot ou Ginot ?).Rare spécimen d'une reliure signée attestée sur des éditions parisiennes de 1501 à 1510. # Goldschmidt, Gothic and Renaissance bookbindings, cat. n° 55, pl. 22-23 (même plaque, en bon état mais avec le nom également difficilement lisible); # manque à Weale.Provenances : annotations anciennes en latin sur les ais; le Chne. After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.
Goods will be send only after customers’ payment.
Packing and dispatching are entirely at the buyer’s own expense.
Books whose price exceed 3.000 BEF will be send by registered post.

Payment will be made in Belgian Francs. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 7.000 BEF or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Belgian francs (BEF).
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 50.000 BEF.
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
