The large scale painting ‘Cagliostro at the Flying Piano’, by the German artist Reinhard Zado depicts a piano player at a flying piano. Below is a jester figure playing the bass lute. ‘Cagliostro in Vienna’ (1875) is an operetta in three acts by Johann Strauss II. The image is composed of dynamic movement with sheets of music flying through the air reflecting the sound of the music. The image was originally part of the collection ‘Magic in Art’, by the magician Mr. Cox who is known for his legendary performance with a flying, pivoting piano.



The painting is signed on the upper left ‘Reinhard Zado’. It is in very good condition with minimal traces of wear. The dimensions of the stretcher frame are 200 x 139 cm.



Reinhard Zado (born 1951)

The artist Reinhard Zado is from Much nearby Cologne. After he trained as a typesetter he went to study at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. A number of exhibitions followed, for example at the Art Association Marburg, the Museum Siegburg and at the Art Association Rotenburg. In 1979, he received the Rhein-Sieg-Krieg advancement award.
