The large scale painting ‘Cagliostro at the Flying Piano’, by the German artist Reinhard Zado depicts a piano player at a flying piano. Below is a jester figure playing the bass lute. ‘Cagliostro in Vienna’ (1875) is an operetta in three acts by Johann Strauss II. The image is composed of dynamic movement with sheets of music flying through the air reflecting the sound of the music. The image was originally part of the collection ‘Magic in Art’, by the magician Mr. Cox who is known for his legendary performance with a flying, pivoting piano.
The painting is signed on the upper left ‘Reinhard Zado’. It is in very good condition with minimal traces of wear. The dimensions of the stretcher frame are 200 x 139 cm.
