S/N 9802, circa 1887 manufacture, 7 1/8” barrel, 10.6 x 57 R caliber; virtually the same as .44 Smith & Wesson Russian caliber; marked as Dreyse Manufacturer. Dreyse supplied Prussia & Bavaria. These durable cavalry arms were the standard cavalry arm for the major German state from 1879 to 1908. Many were used in WWI and some were resurrected for the battle of Berlin in WWII. CONDITION: Excellent bright bore, action operates like a bank vault (it’s German!), 95% rust brown finish, all matching, lanyard ring removed, butt cap marked 1.M.26,8.2 referring to unit, company or squadron, and trooper or firearm number.
