The American Red Cross distinguished itself in nearly every way during the Great War, from raising huge amounts of money for victims, sowing socks for the troops, making bandages and supplies, to receiving medals from the Government. Jane Jeffery, a nurse serving with the Red Cross, was severely injured during an air raid. She refused to leave her post and continued to aid hurt soldiers. For her efforts she was given a Distinguished Service Cross. This lot honors these fantastic and dedicated people.
