Rectangular silver signet ring, 67.18g, with Devanagari inscription in six lines Shri / Balakrishna Charani / Tatpar Narayan Rao / Govind Rao Mankar / Ee. Seemalawada Sam. Dhar / San. 1336 Fa. ???? / ???????? ???? / ????? ????????? / ????????? ????? / ?. ???????? ??. ??? / ?? ???? ?. Seemalawada is a small village located to the North-West of present Dhar town. It is apparent that it was ceded to the bearer of this seal, a person named Narayanrao Govindrao Mankar, perhaps as a Zamindar. He describes himself as ‘ready at the feet of Balakrishna’. The inscription follows a pro-forma usually associated with Maratha seals. The seal is dated in Fasli Era 1336, which would correspond to 1928-29AD. The seal thus falls in the reign of Maharaja Anand Rao IV Pawar (1926-1948) of Dhar. Extremely Fine, Rare.
