<B>1797 Receipt for Rye Paid By George Washington.</B></I> One page, 5.5" x 2.5", np, September 9, 1797. Original manuscript receipt for payment by "<I>General Washington</B></I>" to James Kendal, "<I>for 13 bushels of Rye at Jamestown - Rec. Full payment - James Kendal</B></I>". Kendal's signature is on the lower right corner of the document. The verso is very faintly docketed, the receipt itself has been written in medium brown ink, with names and dates appearing mostly clear. The document is in fine condition, with light toning effecting most of the document (the heavier darker spot is on the lower left), but does not obscure the writing. The upper corners are slightly bent and rounded.
