Note: In 1573, Akbar conquered Gujarat, and Muzaffar Shah III, the last sultan, was taken prisoner to Agra. Ten years later, in 1583, Muzaffar Shah III escaped and briefly regained the throne with the support of nobles, before being defeated by Akbar's general, Abdul Rahim, in the Battle of Sarkhej near Ahmadabad in January 1584. Abdul Rahim was then given the title "Khan-e-Khanan" and commemorated his victory by building the Fateh-Bagh Garden on the Sabarmati River in Ahmadabad. These “Rebellion Rupees” were struck in Ahmadabad during this brief period of Sultan’s reign imitating Akbar’s coinage.
