Rear Window (Paramount, 1954). Lobby Cards (4) (11" X 14"). Alfred Hitchcock treated the subject of voyeurism in many of his films -- whether it's James Stewart following Kim Novak or Anthony Perkins watching Janet Leigh in her motel room -- but never so explicitly as in this film. Stewart plays a photographer laid up in his apartment, watching the soap opera subplots of his neighborhood. Stewart could easily be a stand-in for Hitchcock, both of whom's jobs require observational skills, both of whom see the darker aspects of human nature. Three of these four cards show Stewart immobile in his chair, his camera always at his side, until the final card, the final scene of the film, when Stewart is violently displaced. These theater-used cards contain several pinholes, with wear, and an occasional tear, at the edges. The third card, card number seven, has an abrasion with minor paper loss in the bottom left-hand corner, and while the cards have small stains and dirt marks, the images are unaffected. Fine.
