American herpetologist (1876–1942) known for his books on reptiles and his collaboration with the Bronx Zoo. Vintage 7.75 x 9.25 magazine photo of Ditmars posing with a snake wrapped around his arm taken by Edward Steichen, signed at the bottom in fountain pen, “Raymond L. Ditmars, April 21, 1938.” Affixed to a slightly larger sheet. In fine condition, with scattered show-through toning from adhesive (slightly affecting the first four letters of the signature). Accompanied by a frame.
