The present painting was made by the German artist Ray Zagrow, also known by the pseudonym ‘Ray-the-Artist’, since 2010. The work depicts a red hilly landscape before a blue sea and dark blue clouds on the horizon. The composition is titled ‘MONTAUK’ and therefore directly refers to the famous story by the Swiss author Max Frisch. A short quotation from the book is added on the lower edge of the painting. The work belongs to a series of paintings that Ray-the-Artist executed with reference to Max Frisch.



The painting is in very good condition. It is signed and dated lower right ‘RAY 2014‘. The overall dimensions of the stretcher are 160 x 180 cm.

Ray-the-Artist was born in 1969 in Northern Germany, today he lives and works in Bonn, Germany. He has shown his artwork in single exhibitions in Santiago de Chile, Michigan, London, Hamburg und Berlin. In recent years Ray has withdrawn from public shows and concentrated on painting by direct commission. (cbo)
