Ray Bradbury framed ''Martian Chronicles'' comic strip, adapted by artist Doug Wildey from the original 1950 collection of stories. In this copy of the original, seven panel strip portrays a musical gathering in an open-air amphitheater on Planet Mars. Signed ''Doug Wildey'' to the fifth panel. Comic ran in the L.A. Times ''West'' supplemental magazine in 1972. The editorial notes from the ''West'' inaugural issue read: ''In 1950, Bradbury published what is still his most famous book -- The Martian Chronicles. Since he had long been a fan and collector of comic books, the possibility of turning that episodic book into a comic strip occurred to him immediately...it wasn't for 22 years that the project was finally completed, thanks to a special commission from West.'' Measures 14'' x 20.5'', framed to an overall size of 20.5'' x 27''. Near fine. With a COA from the Ray Bradbury estate.
