Rare factory gold inlaid Colt New Service Target model revolver, .44 Russian caliber, 7-1/2” barrel, Flat-top frame, diamond sights, diamond checkered wood grips, serial #18491. Letter states factory engraved, the name William Loeb is inlaid in gold on top of frame, charged to advertising account, shipped to William Loeb Jr. August 3rd, 1907, one gun in shipment. The pistol remains in very good to near fine original condition showing 75-85% original bright blue, some flaking at the back of frame and muzzle. A small amount of use, near perfect action, very good plus to near fine grips with sharp checkering, a couple of minor bruises, and some light erosion and pinprick pitting, starting where the finish has lifted. The action is tight, the interior excellent. The top of the frame inlaid in flush gold block letters in a flowing design like a wave.
