Rare and practically nonexistent original Arsenal box of .50-70 caliber cartridges loaded with 450 grain bullets by Frankford Arsenal dated 1867. In unopened near fine condition with slight staining and minor splitting at seams. This large box contains 8 smaller Arsenal cartridge boxes of 5 each for a total of 40. This cartridge box was made in the early Indian war period to accompany the Alan conversion of the Springfield musket. We have never catalogued or seen another example except in books. Possibly the finest extant. Est.: $4,000- $8,000.
