Rare and Unusual Sedgley Fist Gun
Sedgley Fist Gun or Hand Firing Mechanism-MK-2. This pistol is illustrated and described on pages 224-225 of "FIREARMS CURIOSA" by Lewis Winant. The gun consists of a .38 S&W smoothbore barrel with superposed trigger mechanism, swivel breech and sliding safety. The gun is attached to a leather glove with six brass rivets. When the shooter forms a fist the push trigger is exposed and the gun fires when the trigger makes contact with the target. The gun has a blue finish. The mounting plate is roll-stamped with the markings: "HAND FIRING/MECHANISM-MK-2" over the encircled "S" Sedgley logo. The description of the gun in "FIREARMS CUROISA" states that Stanley M. Height, U.S. Navy filed a patent application for the gun on February 29, 1944 and that the gun was used by specially trained personnel during WWII.

Excellent. The pistol has 95% of the original, dull blue, finish with high-point wear and light scratches. The contact point have mostly faded to a plum brown patina. "YRS" is scratched on the side of the pistol action. The glove is in fair condition and two of the rivets securing the pistol to the glove body have pulled loose from the glove. This is a rare and very unusual WWII pistol.
