Estimate: $7000 - 9000
Manufacturer: Mauser Model: P08
This is a very rare, early post WWII P.08 Luger pistol. Occupation Forces, much like the postwar Krieghoff P.08's. It has the standard 1940 dated chamber with the "byf" code marked front toggle, indicating it was a Mauser factory Luger. The interesting aspect is that the pistol is numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number "277" stamped on all the parts except, correctly there are NO military firing or acceptance proofs as they would have been outlawed by the allied treaties. The only proofs are on the left side frame rail and right sight of the barrel extension which are both very small "Eagle/N" Post War commercial proof. As noted the majority of the parts carry the full serial number (277) with the top of the breech block, front and rear toggle carrying the full serial number. The top of the extractor is also stamped with a small "Eagle (partial) SU20" which may indicate that this was an original wartime parts. It has the standard checkered walnut grips and is fitted with an all blued type four Army magazine that is marked on the side with "fxo/Eagle/37/P.08" with the serial number "277" etched on the spine of the magazine (just like a postwar P.08 Krieghoff). This Luger has an all blued finish.
