Rare Winchester Model 1890 Slide Action Rifle Chambered for 22 WRF with Factory Stainless Steel Barr
This late production Third Model 1890 rifle was manufactured in 1927 with a rare factory stainless steel barrel chambered for the 22 WRF cartridge. It has a blade front sight and an adjustable notch rear sight marked with a 1901 patent date. The upper left barrel flat is marked "-STAINLESS STEEL-" followed by the two line address/patent date marking and "-MODEL 90-22 WRF". The three line trademark information is on the upper tang, with the serial number on the frame and lower tang. Twelve groove forearm and smooth straight grip stock with crescent buttplate. Winchester stainless steel barrels were Japanned and this finish quickly wore through leaving a spotted finish and were not very popular. Since stainless steel barrels were not popular and were available for a comparatively short time, all Winchesters with these barrels are very rare and valuable collector's items.
