Rare Will & Finck race knife used for marking wooden barrels and boxes. Approx. 6-1/4” overall. One piece walrus ivory hilt with tang terminating at the eye cap nut at the pommel. Some light cracks and staining to the grip. The bolster is cast brass and marked “Will & Finck” on both sides in large “US” lettering denoting US property marking. The adjustable hook is also marked “Will & Finck” with the adjustment screw. This knife is pictured on page 649 of The Knifemakers of Old San Francisco by Bernie Lavine. Hugh Hayes Collection.
