Rare Wide Trigger Variant 1900 Swiss Military Contract Luger Pistol
This is a beautiful example of a early 1900 Swiss military contract Luger. There were only a total of 3000 military contract lugers made and they were specifically in the serial number range from 2001-5000, with this specific luger falling in the last portion of that serial number block. This pistol retains it's original 7.65 mm caliber chambering with the 4 3/4 inch rapid taper barrel. These early 1900 series of Lugers have the old style long frame with the flat main spring, dished toggles with the toggle lock, recessed, flat breechblock, grip safety and the frame was not machined for a stock lug. This particular example is fitted with the seldom encountered wide trigger, an option unique to a few of these Model 1900 Swiss Lugers. The top of the chamber area has the "Swiss Cross" in sunburst crest with the DWM scroll monogram on the front toggle link. The left side of the barrel extension is stamped with the small Swiss Cross and Cross over "V" control or firing proof of Herr Vogelsang the Swiss inspector at the DWM factory and the small Swiss cross firing proof on the right side of the barrel. The full serial number, "4986" is stamped on the underside of the barrel, the with the last two or three digits of the serial number on the various small parts. It has beautiful rust blued finish with the 'straw' colored small parts with the finely checkered walnut grips. It is complete with one original nickel plated Swiss magazine with the unnumbered wood bottom base with the small circular steel insert in the center of the base.
BBL: 4 3/4 inch round

Gauge: 7.65 mm Luger Auto
Finish: blue/straw colors
Grips: walnut checkered

Excellent overall with 97% plus of the original pre-war rust blued finish overall with slight wear and thinning of the blue on the center section of the front grip strap, the grip safety and the edge of the rear grip strap, as well as the edges and high spots overall, the front edges of the frame rails and the side plate hump. The grips are in both in excellent condition with a nice old age matching brown color with just a couple of minor handling marks with no crack or damage. Just an exceptional early 1900 Swiss military contract luger pistol.
