Shah Jahan, Early Issue of Kalima Style,(Surat Mint ?),Gold Mohur, AH 1037/Ahad RY, Obv: kalima shahada, Rev: saheb-e-qiran sani, badshah shah jahan ghazi, 10.85g, 19.86mm, Unlisted Type, about extremely fine with very broad flan of those early issues, Extremely Rare.

Zeno has two examples of early strike mohurs but none of them matches to the style of this specimen which may conclude that these are of even early strike than off those listed in Zeno.Another important feature is that this specimen is of similar type of those rupees struck in the very early reign of Shah Jahan where he would have adopted the features from those of rupees. Mohurs of Early Style are not cataloged in KM and probably struck with the designs adopted from those of Jahangir's as this device clearly shows thebeautifulengraving and floral designs overall on the coin.Probably struck at Surat mint because head of persian "wau and ta" is visible on the coin.Probably being offered for the first time in auction sales.
