Rare US and flaming bomb proofed Winchester Model 1894 lever action saddle ring carbine, blue finish, wood stocks, #844858. This gun is in overall good condition showing liberal traces of muted original finish on the barrel and loadingtube mixed with a plum brown patina and a brown patina on the receiver with some blue in protected area around the back of the saddle ring; overall good bore, action and markings; wood stocks are overall good with numerous scattered nicks, marsand scratches from carry and storage. According to “The Winchester Book” by George Madis (p. 442), these types of US marked ‘94s saw duty guarding the U.S. borders, defense plants and some were with the A.E.F. “doughboys” when they landed inFrance. Given this gun was likely issued in 1919, it conceivably could have been in use along the Mexican border. Consignor indicates discussion with Cody Firearms Museum in Cody, WY highlighted probably cavalry issue, possibly to Fort Davis but no written documentation to this theory was available from Cody. A great variation of the classic ’94 SRC. Est.: $1,000-$1,500.
