Rare U-boat (U-606) Prisoner Of War Grouping. The grouping was that of Seaman first class Friedrich Wolfgarten of U-606 who was incarcerated at Papago Park POW camp, Arizona. U-606 was of the 11th flotilla, and was sunk on 22.01.1942 in the NorthAtlantic by the US Coast Guard Cruiser "Geo. W. Campbell" and the Polish destroyer "Burza" with 36 casualties. The grouping consists of Seaman Wolfgarten's personal POW file, letter envelope from home, prisoner ID tag, prisoner's motorvehicle operator's permit, a photo of Wolfgarten and other POW in some sort of play, or review with several of the POWs in drag! And a U-boat veteran's reunion badge from 1962. The personal file is 19 pages, and features his official POW ID photo, ID number, basic personnel record (Alien Enemy or Prisoner of War) with his military status, health report, finger prints, capture info, dental and medical exams, family, home town location, religion etc. The letter from homeenvelope is addressed to him at the POW camp, and looks to be from his mother.
