Rare U.S. Martially Inspected C.S. Pettengill Patent Double Action Army Revolver
Cone front and groove rear sights, with "PETTENGILLS/ PATENT 1856" on the right side of the sighting groove and "PATd JULY 22 1856/ & JULY 27 1858" on the left side. The bottom of the frame is marked: "PATENTED / NOV. 4 1862". Matching serial number on the cylinder, with "WW" stamped on the barrel, frame and cylinder. Smooth flared butt grips, with a boxed "WW" cartouche on the left panel and "W" on each side of the butt.

Fine, with 60% of the original blue finish, strongest on the barrel, with a mixed gray and brown patina on the rear of the frame, turning brown on the cylinder and in the breech area, along with some edge wear, spotting and handling marks. Grips are excellent with a protective coat of varnish applied, some small minor scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. These U.S. Pettengill Army revolvers are extremely rare and seldom found in this condition!
