Rare U.S. Civil War Lindner's Patent Breech loading Percussion Carbine
Designed and produced by Edward Lindner of Manchester, New Hampshire, only 892 of the First Type carbines were made, with the entire run consumed by military contracts to the 1st Michigan Cavalry and 8th West Virginia Mounted Infantry. Fixed blade front sight and two-leaf folding rear sight mounted behind the breechblock, which is correctly marked on top "EDWARD LINDNER'S / PATENT / MARCH 29, 1859". There is a small "J" on the right side of the breechblock. Smooth straight grip stock, with a metal forearm tip, a sling ring on the left stock flat, "X" cut into the right side of the buttstock and a smooth buttplate.

Condition: Very good, with a bright cleaned patina overall, showing a small amount of pitting and dings. The stock is also very good, with moderate period scuffs on the left side of the buttstock (indicative of Cavalry usage), scattered dings and pressure dents. Mechanically excellent.
