Rare Two-Digit Variant Luftwaffe Contract Krieghoff 36 Dated Luger Pistol
This is a beautiful example of the extremely rare two-digit "36" dated Luftwaffe contract Krieghoff pistol. The total numbers of Krieghoff pistol actually produced for the Luftwaffe during WWII are estimated at approximately 13,000 with only "500" total produced with the rare two-digit "36" dated chamber area. These low production numbers makes the survival rate of this series of pistols extremely low in comparison to the standard Krieghoff luger pistol. These early Krieghoff lugers have the typical high polish commercial blue finish with the straw colored small parts with the distinctive brown checkered grips. The top of the chamber area is only marked "36", indicating production in the upper or later part of this contract run, with the "H-K anchor/Krieghoff/Suhl" logo on front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension and left side of the barrel has the early drooped-wing Luftwaffe Eagle firing proof, next to the double "Eagle/2" acceptance proof, which is also located on the front edge of the frame rail. The underside of the barrel has the full serial number, along with the "Eagle/2" proof and the bore diameter. It is serial numbered in the military style with the full serial number on the barrel, barrel extension and the frame with the last two digits of the serial number on the small parts such as the side plate, the breech bolt, toggle assembly, firing pin, trigger and takedown lever. The extractor and ejector are marked "GELADEN" and "GESICHERT" respectively. It is complete with one unnumbered armours replacement WWII field replacement magazine that has the all blued magazine body with the aluminum base that carries only a small "42".
