Rare Staffordshire Electric CoffeePot Mongolia #844932
<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4"><tr><td><em> </em></td></tr><tr> <td width="100%"> This electric coffee pot is a rare surviving piece from 1933. The ceramic pot was made by Johnson Bros. of Staffordshire,England in the Mongolia pattern. The graceful bird figure with long tail and art deco styling gives the piece unusual distinction. It was made to match the Pareek line of dishes in the Mongolia pattern. Approx. 8 cup capacity.
See my listing #1866 for matching dinnerware set.
The pot has repaired damage that is not visible nor does it in any way hamper the use of the piece: The ring around the top had been forced off due to the lid fitting too tightly. When it came off the inserted porcelain came with it, breaking cleanly. It has been cleaned and professionally repaired using today's ultra strong glues. No signs of the break remain, the lid has been adjusted to fit properly.
The Robeson Rochester Corp. was the manufacturer of the electric parts. In good original working condition. Patents date 1926-1929 and 1933.
A marvelous rare piece that is a delightful reminder of gracious entertaining three quarters of a century ago!
