Produced in response to the greatly elevated demand for Randall knives during WWII, the Springfield Fighting Knife was produced by the Northampton Cutlery Company, based on design specs and a prototype knife supplied by Bo Randall himself. Production was limited, due to restrictions on wartime material, with only around 500 believed to have been manufactured, 7 7/8 inch carbon steel blade, with a sharpened false edge and the scimitar flanked address reading "RANDALL MADE/SPFLD.MASS." on the left side of the blade. Brass oval cross guard, with white and red spacers on either side of the leather washer grip, an aluminum cap and a hexagonal pommel nut. OAL: 12 1/2 inches. With an unmarked brown leather sheath and a modern production Randall soft case.

Condition: Fine. The blade is spotted, with a small chip absent near the base, light scratches and signs of active sharpening. The address is double stamped, possibly a factory error. A dark patina is showing on the guard, brighter at the edges, with dents on the grip and cap. Sheath is fair, with cracking and scuffs. A scarce piece of American edged weapon history.
