Manufactured in 1947 during the transition period (late 1945-1951), this Winchester Model 70 carbine is a Super Grade and is chambered for the very desirable and rare 300 Savage caliber. Pre-64 Model 70 Super Grade carbines in 300 Savage were manufactured on a special order basis only from about 1944 to the 1950s, making it one of the rarest variations of the pre-64 Model 70 carbine on today's collector market. The 20 inch barrel features a hooded ramp front sight and an adjustable sporting rear sight. The left side of the barrel has standard Winchester markings followed by "300 SAVAGE". The receiver is tapped for scope/sight mounting and has a polished bolt numbered to the gun. The rifle also has a cloverleaf tang and a transition safety. The Winchester factory proof is stamped on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The floor plate is stamped "-SUPER GRADE-". The straight comb pistol grip stock features multi-point checkering, ebony forend tip, hard rubber factory grip cap, cheekpiece, quick release sling swivels and checkered steel buttplate.
