Rare Smith & Wesson/Armament Systems & Procedures Model 39-2 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Accessories

Estimate: $4000 - 6000
Designed in the 1960s by Paris Theodore, abstract artist, holster maker and (self-proclaimed) CIA independent contractor, the ASP takes a basic Model 39-2 Pistol and "remanufactures" it into an ideal defensive carry pistol. The barrel, slide and frame are all shortened, hammer bobbed, edges deburred, and the trigger guard trimmed down and hooked at the front. The rear sight is correctly replaced with a sighting plane, with no front sights, and the grips are translucent lexan with clear panels corresponding with cuts in the magazine for round counting. Mentioned in Maj. Geoffrey Boothroyd's 1970 book "The Handgun", John Gardner, one of Ian Fleming's successors, made the ASP James Bond's sidearm starting in 1984, and through the following 11 novels. Included with the pistol are the following items: pistol manual, five magazines total, magnetic double magazine pouch (broken snap), custom "ASP" marked brown leather holster, extra pair of "window' grips (still sealed), and ASP tactical baton with scabbard.
