Rare Smith-Condit Arms Slide Action Prototype Rifle

The rifle is a prototype manufactured by Smith-Condit Arms and is very similar to the Standard Arms Model M slide action rifle, which this rifle likely evolved into. The Model M was Standard Arms' manual slide action rifle that was introduced circa 1909. The hand built rifle is without a serial number. The only factory marking on the rifle is the Smith-Condit Arms Co. logo on the metal buttplate. Blade front sight, adjustable rear sight, ribbed metal forearm and straight grip walnut stock. Standard Arms was involved in the manufacturing and selling Smith-Condit military rifles to various governments and W.D. Condit was secretary of the Standard Arms.

Stock: walnut
Gauge: 30
Finish: blue

Serial Number: NSN

Very good as partially touched up with cold blue (right side of frame, rear portion of barrel). The rifle retains 30% original blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The stock is very good with a small hairline crack near the frame, chipping near the upper tang and some minor handling marks with most of the finish remaining. Mechanically needs work.
