Rare Short Barreled Colt Cloverleaf House Model Revolver
This rare short barreled Colt Cloverleaf House Model Revolver manufactured in 1871. The revolver has the scarce 1 and 1 /2 inch round barrel with half-moon front sight blade, four-shot cylinder, early pinch-frame rear sight and high profile hammer spur. The revolver has a full, nickel-plated, finish and two-piece, bird's head, rosewood grips with a varnish finish. "COLT" is roll-stamped on the left side of the barrel. The serial number, "2729" is stamped on the underside of the barrel and on the bottom of the butt. Both serial numbers match. The Colt Cloverleaf House Model is significant because it was the first Colt solid frame revolver chambered for metallic cartridge ammunition.

Finish: nickel
Grips: rosewood

Excellent. The revolver retains 98% of the original nickel-plated finish. There is some minor flaking in the nickel-plating on the front and rear edges of the cylinder and some scratches on the frame at the left rear edge of the cylinder cut-out. The balance of the nickel plated finish is smooth and shows only minor handling wear. The varnished walnut grips are in excellent condition with some minor edge wear on the high points of the grips. This is an excellent example of a first year production, nickel-plated Colt Cloverleaf House Model Revolver with scarce short barrel.
