Rare Sharps Model 1850 rifle made by S. Nippes for Christian sharps in .44 caliber percussion with 30” heavy octagon barrel and Maynard tape primer device. The rifle remains in very good plus to near fine original condition showing 80% to 90% of its original finish on barrel evenly drifting and toning. The lock is a light gray with traces of original color showing sharp edges and full markings. The stocks are very good plus and are a select quality wood showing a small chip from the toe and a minor compression hairline crack at the wrist. Minor handling and storage marks in the wood. The action is good and the bore is excellent. 1 of only 150 produced and this is one of the best condition specimens known as they were generally well used in the early frontier era and seldom found with condition.
