This is an example of a petite salt glaze pig flask. The flask is very unusual as there appears to be a lot of time spent on the form and the facial features of the pig however, the remainder of the pig is rushed and incomplete compared to other examples. The face is beautify incised with cobalt blue accents to the eyes and eye brows. The right side of the pig is incised with "Fine Old Bourbon/ In a Hog -" pointing to the rear of the hog. The time was take to list the towns of Cairo and Mound City in the unflattering areas of the pigs anatomy. Cincinnati is on the underbelly, Chicago is underneath the chin and Dunleath across the face, St. Louis is prominently located across the top of the pig's back. H 3 1/2 inches, L 6 3/4 inches W 2 inches.
