This is nice example of a rare Anna Pottery Frog Mug. Anna Pottery is well know for their whimsical frog mugs that feature a perched frog sitting in the base, meant to amuse the person drinking from the mug. Incised on the mug in cobalt blue is "St. Louis Sinkhole Quail/188(?3)". The last digit of the date is hard to read due to a glaze pop that caused a chip leaving the date unknown. The mug is approximately 2 1/2 inches high and 3 1/2 inches wide. The frog perched in the base has a beautiful yellow mustard color glaze. Salt glaze frog mugs are very rare as there are only a handful of them know. Generally the frog mugs are made with Albany glaze.
