Extremely rare Bennington glaze advertising pig flask by Anna Pottery. The Kirkpatrick brothers produced many pig flask for the Sandford Wells in St. Louis. This example appears to be a special piece made for them with the traditional incising of the Mississippi River along the back of the pig incised with " Miss" the river area has a heavy glaze over the top. Incised on the right side of the pig is "From/Sandord Wells & Co/ N 214 N. Main Street/St. Louis, Ill/With A Little Fine Old Bourbon/In A Hogs -" On the left side of the pig is a detailed railroad and river guide however, it is difficult to read many of the towns as there is a thick shiny glaze obstructing the legibility. The towns listed include, Mound City in the same unflattering location of the pig, the town of Anna in a prominent location next to Carbondale, Odin, Ellastam. H 3", L 7 1/2" W 3"
