First flight cover, Registered Cover, George VI, 1948, ½ Anna, Republic India’s first issue of stamp valuing 3 ½ Annas & 12 Annas, all affixed on front, cancelled with round concentric postmark in black as “BOMBAY G.P.O. | 8 JUN. 48” along with rectangular first flight pictorial seal as “AIR MAIL | BOMBAY – LONDON | 8-6-48 FIRST FLIGHT”, depicting that the cover has travelled in the first ever international flight in Indian history, addressed to “M. H. Robertshaw, Esqr., | 58, Norten Park View, | Norton, Sheffield, | England.”, dispatched by “J. H. Pestonjamaap, | C/O The Central Bank of India Ltd, | Fort, Bombay, India.”, “Registered” marked on the front of the cover above the printing “BY AIR MAIL | PAR AVION”, Registration label affixed on the back as “R V 255 | BOMBAY G.P.O.”, good condition, Rare.
