Third Reich Army officer's dagger with Damascus blade and presentation case. The dagger has a 10-inch Damascus finished blade with gold "E & F Horster/Solingen" proof mark on the reverse ricasso. The obverse of the blade has the gold inlaid, three-line inscription: "WER NICHT FREUT AM BLANKEN SCHWERT / AM FALKENFLUG / AM STOLZEN PFERD / AM SCHOENEN WEIB / DER HAT KEIN RICHTIG HERZ IMLEIB.". The dagger has a silver-plated hilt and pommel with spiral ivory grip. The pommel and base of the hilt are decorated with a cast oak leaf and acorn motif. The obverse crossguard features a national eagle with wreath encircled swastika. The silver-plated, steel, scabbard has a pebbled finish with two swivel rings attached by suspension bands with a cast oak leaf motif. The case has a red, imitation leather, cover with pebble-grain finish. The lid is lined with cream-colored silk and the fitted bottom is lined with green velvet.

Excellent. The dagger is totally original and shows only storage wear. The silver-plated counter-guard and pommel are tarnished and remain in excellent condition. The excellent original grip has no age discoloration, cracks or handling wear. The silver-gray Damascus blade is in exceptional condition with near-perfect gold inscription and proof mark. The scabbard is in very fine condition with tarnish and moderate finish flaking along the edges. The case is in fine condition with scattered, minor, storage marks on the exterior but no significant wear. The interior lining is in very fine to excellent condition.
