Rare Pre-War Walther Semi-Automatic Shotgun

This is an example of a rare Walther semi-automatic shotgun. These shotguns were manufactured in an attempt to break into the shotgun market prior to WWII. They were not a very robust design and saw very limited production. The rear of the forearm drops down at the breech when the slide on the left side of the receiver is moved to the rear for loading the magazine tube, which is housed in the forearm. The entire assembly can be slid off the front of the barrel after it is released. The toggle link mechanism is operated by a lever on the right side of the receiver which rotates down for cocking. The left side of the barrel is marked "CAL 12-65m/m = 2 1/2" KRUPPSTAHL Imperial Eagle proof Nitro". The left side of the trigger guard is marked "GERMANY". Ramp front sight with bead and a matt groove on top of the receiver. The forearm is checkered below the finger grooves. The checkered stock has a round knob on the pistol grip, horn buttplate and a buttstock sling swivel, LOP 13 5/6 inch.

Very fine. The shotgun retains 90% thinning original blue finish with some gray on the high edges. There is some scattered mild pitting on the barrel and on the rear of the frame and upper tang. The wood is very fine with the exception of a few minor gouges, a chip missing near the toe, and some minor dings and scratches, and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
